Sydney's First Photo Shoot (part 1)
Friday we took Syd for her first professional pictures (she's had hundreds of amateur photoshoots at home!). She was a little fussy because she was asleep when we started and had to tickle her feet to wake her up. It was lots of fun, and of course we think she's the most beautiful thing to ever grace this earth, so we bought tons of pictures of her!! We were those typical sucker first time parents that bought the largest photo package possible! Actually, there were several larger, but this child now has more pictures than I've had in my entire 27 years! We had a little buyer's remorse later that night, but we laughed it off and it will be a good memory for us to share & a valuable lesson learned! Once we get them all framed (another pricy part of parenthood) I'll take a picture of the shrine we'll have on our wall ;)
I know its been a whole week since I posted, and believe me....I've been hearing about it! I wanted to get to this sooner, but I've gone on 12 interviews in the past week trying to find childcare for Syd when I return to work. Jeff and I made a decision last night & I feel very comfortable with it. Jeff hasn't met her yet, he will on Thursday, but I know he'll like her as much as I did. The bonus is that Kenna Eilers (Brooke Trachsel's sister) takes her little Alyssa there, so she and Sydney can play together during the day while the mommies are at work. Kenna has another bambino in the oven, so Syd will have to buddies to play w/ at Miss Debbie's Daycare. After making this decision, we then had to figure out how to cut an extra $800 out of our monthly budget. Yikes!!!
I guess I forgot to mention that Jeff's birthday was on the 19th. We went to McCormick & Schmicks for dinner to celebrate. Now 90% of the time we have this perfect angel of a baby girl. In fact, she's peacefully slept or watched as we've had 5 or 6 dinners out in the past. However, she didn't let Jeff enjoy all of his birthday dinner. She was dressed up cute as can be, so everyone was telling us what a beautiful baby we have. About 1/2 way through the main course she decided it was time to go home. She was clean, fed, and not gassy....I took her to the ladies room to see if a tug on the milk truck (aka mom) would settle her down. No such luck. We scarfed down the rest of our dinner & ordered dessert to go. It was still a nice evening out, I just thought the irony of the situation was funny. If we can get her to take the bottle a little more consistently, then maybe we'll get a sitter next time we go out for a nice dinner.
The past week has been a big one for Syd. She has really discovered the world around her & is starting to fight to stay awake & enjoy more of it. When either Jeff or I walk into the room, she greets us with a big smile & a coo or some sort of gurgle noise. Its so nice to know your baby loves & recognizes you! She especially loves diaper changing time on the changing table in her room. She talks and coos the most then (the times when she's not crying because of the coldness from the wipes). She's gotten better at tummy time, and has had about 30 minutes of it already today. She enjoys tub baths much better than sponge baths. The baby acne is pretty much gone, but the cradle cap is still moving around. I thought it was cleared up, but actually it just relocated further back on her little head. We had the driest February in history, so I'm blaming it on that. Its 80 degrees today, so I'm going to take her for her first walk outside this afternoon.
I've still got more to report on, and tons more pictures to post, but it will have to wait for another time because I'd really like to sneak in a shower before she wakes up!
