28 weeks, 6 days pregnant (79 days to go!)

I haven't been very good about getting the pictures from the camera onto the computer lately....I'll blame it on the pregnancy! Here's a little of what we've been up to lately....

Jamie and I at his house during Graceland's Homecoming (not a cute picture of me, but I love my little bro so I put it up anyway)
Jeff and I getting ready to leave for my birthday dinner
This belly picture was taken on the 24th, so I was almost 28 weeks
Can you tell I like my new camera?
This is the restaurant where Jeff and I celebrate everything; birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, you name it. For our anniversary they bring us a complimentary bottle of champagne...but there was none of the bubbly to celebrate my birthday this year.

27 Weeks Pregnant, and counting...

From babyfit.com:

Your Baby's Development This Week
Age of Fetus—25 weeks
This week marks the beginning of the 3rd trimester, which is a big step for you and the baby! Around this time the baby begins opening and closing its eyes which were fused shut for much of the pregnancy.
Other changes that are happening:
The baby's lungs are growing rapidly.
The baby's brain wave patterns are similar to a newborn at birth.
You should feel at least ten kicks within a two hour period ( 7-10pm is a very active period).
Baby's Size (head to rump) this week: 9.7 inches
15.25 inches (head to toes)
Weight: a little more than 2 lbs The baby's size is about the length of a standard kitchen spatula.

The whole "ten kicks within a two hour period" way under estimates her activity! Its a lot of fun to watch her move. I could sit and watch my stomach for hours!

Fetal progress this week

I thought you might enjoy reading the latest on our development. I get these weekly, so I'll post anything interesting. Boy, are they right about the gaining weight part or what! Whew!

This is from babyfit.com:

Your Baby's Development This Week
Ae of Fetus—24 weeks
Your baby is putting on more weight at this time. Recall that you can expect to gain about a pound per week this month as both you and the baby grow. This week marks a special time as the baby's brain wave activity begins for the visual and auditory systems. It will be some time, however, until the baby comprehends what it is sensing.
Other changes that are happening:
With the nostrils now open, the baby will now make breathing movements to prepare for taking in air at birth.
Your baby's lungs secrete surfactant to keep the lung tissue from sticking together.
At this point the baby has completed two-thirds of its stay in your womb.
Baby's Size (head to rump) About 9.25 inches
Weight: Approximately 2 lbs

Preparing the Nursery

We started painting the nursery over a week ago. This room was the guest room & was originally a golden yellow color. We primed it, and then applied 3 coats of the first pink. Yes~my doctor said it was fine for me to paint with normal household latex paint. When I asked her if I needed to wear a painters mask, she even laughed at me! We made sure the fan was on & the window was open for good ventilation. Then came the tricky part...We measured each stripe to be 10 inches wide and planned on using a laser level to guide us for taping. Well, the first laser level fell out of the wall at about the 6th or 7th stripe and broke into several pieces. We spent the rest of that evening trying to repair it....it is now in the garbage! We purchased a new & improved laser level that suctions onto the wall. This was still pretty tricky to use, but we slowly got the hang of it. Once the taping was done, the 2nd pink went on quickly. We're all finished now with the exception of a few pencil marks that need to be erased or painted over. We're thrilled at how it turned out! This was our inspiration room: http://ww2.potterybarnkids.com/index.cfm?age=b&area=shp&cid=frn&sid=PBK5ENG6CPUEVTZ89OHBCZCIPMIHQARE200510102011&src=hme. We've decided that it reminds us of a circus tent a bit. Jeff was so excited that he picked up the crib on his way home from work today. As you can see in the pictures, we don't have a mattress in the crib yet, but we put the bedding on it anyway to see how it looks. We've adjusted to calling the room "the nursery" or "the baby room" now instead of the guest room. We can't wait for our little bundle of joy to arrive so we can add life to the room!

I had a doctor appointment today & did the glucose screening to test for gestational diabetes. They had a new Fruit Punch flavor that wasn't too bad. I should have the results within a week. I am at higher risk for this since there is a family history of diabetes. Everything else was good. My blood pressure was good today, better than normal, and my urine is still clean so still no preeclampsia (yippee!). Of course, I'm gaining weight~but in the normal range so I'm still on track. When she measured my belly she did it 3 times because I'm measuring a bit big for 26 weeks. Jeff's excited at the thought that we might have a big baby, but I'm still betting that she'll be in the 7 lb range. I have an ultrasound on the 24th (my birthday!) to measure her. We're all doing well, so thanks for those prayers!
