Sydney day 13

Here are some picts of Syd this morning. This was her first time playing on the Boppy pillow. It worked pretty well, so I think we'll be doing more of this. She gets the hiccups if you put her on her back after she eats, which makes changing her diaper difficult if she lets one go while she's nursing. Of course, she spit up a little as soon as I got this outfit on her. She was pretty fussy last night and wouldn't stay asleep until around 12:30. She then slept until 3, when I fed her, and then again until 7:45. Not a bad night, but not nearly as good as the few before. They say colic surfaces around the 2nd week, peaks at week 6, and lasts until month 3 or 4. She is agitated in the evenings, but doesn't cry....its mostly lots of pushing & grunting w/ no results. A few people have suggested that I try to eliminate dairy from my diet (yikes!) and see if that helps. I'm going to give it 72 hours and see if that helps. I LOVE DAIRY, so this will be hard.

The pictures in the yellow outfit are from yesterday. I think the one w/ her hand in front of her face looks like she's hiding from the paparazzi.

Updates

This is a pic of us typing up this update

Dad Just having some fun

Just a little more time until this clears up

Just a couple of updates on the little one. Syd's umbilical cord came off yesterday morning. Her belly button still needs to heal a little more so we are going to wait on the big bath time. Her bili results are heading back down and she should be normal very soon.
Today we went to church and celebrated Sydney's boyfriend, Tanner Osburn's, baby blessing. He is in previous posts if you want to take a look at the handsome fella. He is a great looking young lad. We had a great time at church and everyone thought that she was pretty cute. I am sure it is because I have a Beautiful wife.
We are very lucky that her sleeping habits are great this early. Her last feeding before bedtime for us is around 11:30. She sleeps until 2:30/3:30 and the we wake her about around 6:00 to 6:30. She has us on a great schedule, I mean we have her on a great schedule.
I have to go back to work tomorrow after taking 8 working days off. :( It has been a great time but very short. Our friends, really our family, in Kansas City have been taking care of us this past week. We have dinner brought to our house almost every night and if it is not everynight then the food that was given to us lasts for many many meals.
I will continue to give updates and pictures often to keep everyone posted.

Sydney at day 8

We're off the bili-light for phototherapy on the jaundice...yippee!! She has had 3 wonderful nights in a row, so we're hoping this is a pattern. We're not nearly as sleep deprived as we originally thought we would be by now. I can't believe tomorrow is a week that we've been home w/ her. Wow....what a change in our lives.

Here are a few pictures taken since our last download:

Syd likes to roll to the side when she's on the changing table.

What cute little feet! You can still see the little marks made by the bili test. Thank goodness we're done w/ the blood draws for a while!
Jeff took this picture from a mirror in our bedroom. I was looking the other way and didn't even realize he took it. This was right after our early AM feeding & she's all naked to wake her up. Jeff was dressing her, but she was too cute & he couldn't put her down. Tiny hands!

We go to the hospital tonight!!!

I'll check in at 8pm tonight at Overland Park Regional Medical Center to start preparing for induction tomorrow morning. At this point it hasn't been decided yet if she'll just break my water tomorrow morning & see if contractions start on their own, or if she'll start me on pitocin right away. I guess we'll discuss this when its time. I honestly don't know which I think is best, but I'm leaning towards breaking the water so mother nature can take its course w/out intervention. They say that the average time for labor for first time mom's is 14 hours. Yikes! As long as her birthday is the 18th & she doesn't make me labor until the 19th, then I'll be happy...exhausted, but happy.

At my last appointment yesterday she measured closer to 7 lbs 8 oz, so I think the measurements from 2 weeks ago had errored quite a bit on the larger side (8 lbs 4 oz). Everything looked good, except she slept through the entire sonogram. She woke up for the NST, so we still passed our tests.

Here are a few picts of my belly last week & updates on the nursery...we keep adding a little at a time.

As with the last belly picts, I've just come home from the gym...so please excuse my appearance. We thought we'd give you the full effect w/ my shirt off. I'm enormous!!

This is what my view of my belly looking down looks like.We finally got the changing pad for the combo-hutch. This is the pack n' play that Sydney will sleep on in our bedroom for the first few weeks. And, one of my favorite things in the room, the rocking chair. Its SUPER comfy!

Week 39

From babyfit.com

Your Baby's Development This Week
Age of Fetus—37 weeks
You are about as big as you are going to get at this point. The baby is still storing fat and increasing the production of surfactant to keep the air sacs open in the lungs. You should have everything prepared at this time to go to the hospital if labor begins.
Other changes that are happening:
The baby's skin is becoming thicker and paler.
The baby is gaining about ½ an ounce of fat for every day in the womb now.
The muscles in your uterus apply a force equal to 55 pounds during labor contractions.
Baby's Size (head to rump) and Weight this week:
Size: 14.5 inches (head to rump)
21.5 inches (head to toes)
Weight: 7 lbs

Doc Appt Today (9 days left!!!)

I went in for a sonogram & doc appt this morning and all was well. We scored 100% on the sonogram. She was asleep at the beginning, so they buzzed her to get her moving around. They didn't do measurements today, so I'm still not sure if the measurements from last week are very accurate or not. No one seems to believe that she could be 8lbs 4oz based on how I look, so maybe they were way off. We did fine on the NST. She was awake by then, so it went quickly. I wasn't having any contractions to speak of. My doc was in an emergency c-section, so I saw another instead of waiting. My BP was really good today!! Somehow I've lost 4 pounds since Wednesday. I'm not sure what's going on w/ my weight. I lost a pound over Christmas, then gained 5 the next week, and now I'm back down 4. So that puts my grand total at 26 so far. The doc didn't seem too concerned, but a bit surprised. I'm not sure how I feel about it. The nurse is convinced that I was probably retaining more water last week & that's the reason for such a fluctuation. As long as little Syd is okay, then I'm not much concerned w/ my weight. She checked me and I was 1-2 cm. It was a little disappointing that I haven't made much change since the 27th. I'm really hoping that all my walking pays off soon!

We went ahead and officially scheduled the induction for my due date, the 18th. I'll go in the night before for Cervidil and they'll start the drip sometime the next morning. I think Jeff and I will go out for dinner before checking in on the 17th for one last hoo-rah & some quiet time (we won't be getting much of that for a ways to come!). With any luck she'll be born sometime the evening of the 18th (and I really pray that its not the 19th, because that would be a LONG day). Of course, in the back of my mind, I'm still hoping there's a chance I'll spontaneously go into labor on my own between now & then. I have another appointment on the 16th just to make sure all is well & to see if I've made any progress. Keep us all in your prayers!!!

Quick Update....

At this point, the latest news is that my doc is going to let me wait until the 18th, but no later, to go into labor on my own. The previous news was that I was going to be induced on or by the 11th. We've both been passing our tests with flying colors, and as long as the next 9 days go as well, we'll keep on waiting. She let me decide if I wanted to be induced on the 11th or wait until the 18th...and I'm really hoping that mother nature kicks in on her own between now & then. But if not, then Sydney's birthday will be 1/18/06 (unless she really decides to torture me and draw it out until the 19th...yikes!).

I've been having false labor, but nothing else exciting to speak of. On 12/27 they checked me and I was 1cm, 30%, and her head was "low". They probably won't check again until they schedule the induction just to make sure I'm a good candidate for it. They did measurements at my last sonogram and they estimated her size to be about 8 lbs 4oz. Of course, these measurements can be up to a pound off. Either way, she's a good size & that's one of the main reasons they're letting me wait until the 18th.

I go in for another check up tomorrow, the 9th, so I'll post any news that develops. In the mean time, I'm walking 3.5 miles a day, eating hot food, and trying to get plenty of sleep in preparation for the big event! Wish me luck!

New Years Eve

Jeff and I hosted a little NYE bash at our place this year. Its not often that we're in town for NYE and this was sort of a last-chance party at our place since I'm sure we won't be having many shindigs over the next few months! It was a casual event with several little ones in attendance and a few other pregos as well. Somehow I managed to stay up until a little after 2am. Jeff, on the other hand, barely made it till midnight & put himself to bed around 12:20!! I guess those 7 or 8 jello shots put a damper on his evening!

The evening started out, as most evenings do, with a friendly game of poker. At this point it looks like only Jason, Darin, Mike, and Josh are left at the table.
We had some of those confeti poppers to add a little festivity to the evening (and a lot of vacuuming the next day). Taylor wasn't a big fan of the "popping" aspect of the poppers.

Champagne is all lined up....let the countdown begin!

Can you tell from this picture that Jeff is about ready to call it an evening? He only made it about 25 minutes after this point.
But...he did manage to kiss the right wife at midnight!

Christmas w/ the Hunts

"Jeff & Brenna's Holiday Rotation Schedule" would have put us in Florida for Christmas this year. But I'm in that latter part of pregnancy when they don't want you to leave town for anything. Lucky for us, Florida came to KC for Christmas this year. Dad and Ally flew in from Nashville on Christmas afternoon. We opened our gifts and had the traditional turkey dinner before the Wilson's came over to celebrate w/ us. We were so thrilled to have them in town, and can't wait until they're here again for the birth of little Sydney!

Ally opens her sweater from Jeff and me. Isn't she pretty in pink?
Jeff is thrilled w/ his football from Reece. I think Sydney will have to learn to play ball w/ her dad since we don't have a boy yet. (and I'm not very good at football)

Jamie show's off his gym pants.
Sydney did have one gift under the tree this year from Santa (Jeff). We love these little Robeez. On the 27th, Grandpa and Gram Hunt, Micah and Beth, and the Wilson's came over for a fondue party. Beth is expecting on the 16th of February, so we took a belly picture. Beth is so cute & just glowing....I'm ENORMOUS standing next to her!!

Christmas Eve at Our House

This is the first Christmas Jeff and I have ever spent in KC at our own place. Jamie came down from Lamoni & celebrated w/ us. I guess we started a tradition of decorating a gingerbread house. It was fun because the kit comes with more icing and candy than you can possibly fit onto this little house....so we just ate some while we decorated.
