Applepicking in St Louis

Backwards Process

Well, Sydney is making progress with her gross motor skills. However, that progress is actually going backwards. She can pretty much get where ever she wants by rolling, pivoting on her stomach, or stretching with one of her signature yoga moves. She has been pulling her hips up & rocking in a downward dog position just this week. If we could just get old stiffy here to bend her knees once in a while I think she'd have this crawling thing mastered. In the mean time, she's perfectly content with her current set of skills & isn't in any hurry to move forward.

Here she has backed herself under the couch
We had so much fun when Dad, Ally & Jamie came to visit, that we hardly took any pictures. Dad did, however, get this one of Ally putting Syd down for her morning nap. Sydney LOVES to turn the pages when you read to her. She doesn't even wait for you to finish the page before turning it, so its a good thing I have most of her books memorized by now. Needless to say, the then paper-paged books are put away for now because she's quite an aggressive little turner.

Last weekend at the Pumpkin Patch

Blogger has not been my friend lately. I tried to post this like 2 weeks ago, as you can see by the date stamp above, but its actually 10/24 when I actually completed it. Sorry everything is so tardy!

Just another day at the Morgan house

The bigger the splash the better for Sydney. Jeff's thrilled with all the long hair she's getting. He loves to brush it & style it after a bath. This is Sydney's way of helping me with the laundry (more like distracting me from all the chores!). Her cheek is pretty red because she took quite a spill about 5 minutes before this. Good thing she has a short term memory!Monday was a very sad & scary day. Sydney had some sort of food poisoning or 24 hour stomach virus. She was at Diane's & woke up from her nap covered in puke. I immediately went to pick her up. She continued to dry heave (I'll spare you the details) until 4pm, when I called Jeff & we decided it was time to take her to urgent care. Not that anything can be done to stop a sick baby from vomiting, but she was beginning to get dehydrated at this point. She was like a little rag doll all limp in my arms. I had spoken with the nurse 3 times prior to see what I should do, but until she quite vomiting for atleast an hour, I couldn't even give her water. Of couse, its magic because as soon as we put her in the car, she quit throwing up. By the time we saw the doctor it was 1 hour 5 minutes & he told us to give her 4-5 ml of fluids every 5 minutes & he'd monitor her for an hour. If she kept it all down, we could go home. She perked up after about 15 minutes of that, and an hour later we were on our way home. In this picture we're in the waiting room just snuggling her.The only thing Syd was interested in while she was sick was Jeff's ear bud. Its her new obsession. Everytime Jeff comes home she immediately grabs for it. Here she is wearing it herself.

Lady Liberty

I was in NYC last weekend with work & brought Syd back this little crown & torch. Being away from her for 4 days was extremely hard, especially since I'm still nursing her. Jeff wins the Daddy Of The Year award for doing it all by himself! They really bonded while I was gone & she's no longer just a "mommy's girl", she's definitely "daddy's girl" now too!

A Few of Sydney's Favorite Things

Here are a few of Sydney's favorite things:
Syd goes right for the highchair buckle at the beginning & end of every meal. Of course, we stay right by her while she's unbuckled. She could sit & play with it forever! My patience isn't that long, so it usually only lasts about 6 or 7 minutes.
She loves her friend, Maddie. Jackie & I got creative & thought the girls could keep eachother company w/out too much adult interaction during dinner last week. Maddie was in the jumparoo, and Sydney tried to make the exersaucer into a jumparoo too. She kept slamming her legs down & waiting for the seat to bounce her back up.
Syd loves naked time. She really likes looking at herself when she's naked in the mirror, but none of those pictures were PG enough to post online.
This is probably one of my favorite things, and Syd just tolerates me. I pretend like she's corn on the cob & I scoop her up & nibble on her tummy. Its "Sydney On The Cob".
Sydney has a lot of unconventional "toys", like the power cord from the vacuum. Everytime I get it out she grabs on & follows it as much as she can. Don't worry, she's not near the plug & I watch her very closely.
