Pool Party, Yard Work, Puppy Love, and those Ohio Hunts

Tuesday after work I took Sydney over to Brynn Stowell's house to play in the pool with her and Maddie. None of the girls are sitting up unassisted yet, so they required hands on contact the whole time. The pool was a little cool since it rained earlier that day, but the girls seemed to handle it just fine. We found that it was pretty much impossible to get more than one, let alone all 3 babies, to look at the camera at the same time! Sydney was jealous of Brynn because Jeff won't let her wear a bikini yet.Sydney is trying to take advantage of being a little bit bigger than Maddie (which won't be for long), and is taking off her swimsuit in this one. Obviously Maddie doesn't look thrilled about going topless to the pool. After the pool, I dried her off & put some dry clothes on. You can see her eye color fairly well in this picture. They were a dark blue when she was born, and now they're hazel with brown showing up. I'm pretty sure they'll be brown eventually, since Jeff's are so dark. Sydney loves books, not so much for the reading but for the grabbing, throwing to the ground, and chewing on. I tried not to let her get drool all over Brynn's library.Brynn wanted to see if Sydney's hands were any tastier than her own. She gave up shortly and went for a pacifier instead.Danielle and I have joked about who would win if Syd & Brynn were in a wrestling match. At the beginning it was Syd, but now its hands down Brynn. Apparently, Brynn took it literally and tried to steamroll Sydney. Syd gave her the stiffarm and held her off. This is the closest we came to getting them all 3 to look the same way at once.

The Ohio Hunts were in town, and boy have those kids grown!!! Its been 2 years since I was out there last. Here's a picture of all the cousins.
Here's Katelyn holding Sydney. Syd was a sad baby that night so we didn't get pictures of everyone else holding her.
Jeff was mowing the lawn, and thought this was a good opportunity to teach Syd the importance of lawn maintenance. I can't remember why she's naked in these pictures, but she'd probably just spit up on her outfit & was sour.

She's certainly sporting "The Donald" hairdo in this shot, especially with the wind factor. The drool you see is a new accessory she has daily now.

Velvet has been an excellent dog since Sydney's arrival. She's a little timid around her. Velvet will give her a few licks on her own, but she backs away when Sydney reaches for her. Its probably because Sydney is wobbly and has flailing arms-pretty scary stuff if you're on the receiving end of it.
You can tell in this one that I've just commanded Velvet to lay down next to Sydney. She wouldn't' get any closer than this, but didn't' seem to mind the extra petting.

A present from Sydney, buggy bottom, and the jumparoo

This is Sydney learning to sit up like a big girl. Some days are better than others. Often she just ends up with her face on her feet like she's a contortionist, or she goes right down on her back. She really likes sitting up & looking around, its a much better view than staring at our white popcorn ceiling or being faceplanted on a blanket. I thought about getting one of those bumbo seats, but thats another $40 item that she will only use for a few months. I keep trying to talk myself into it & say that our next child (children) could use it too.
Sydney (via Jeff) gave me a beautiful ring with her birthstones in it. I absolutely LOVE it!!! She (again, via Jeff) wrote me a cute letter thanking me for carrying her around for 38 weeks and for taking care of her & feeding her all the time now.
I think of her everytime I look at it & know that one day, many many years from now, it will be her's to inherit.
We think this little lady bug butt outfit is the cutest!!!
Syd is striking a pose.
She loves to be standing all the time, and is getting pretty good at it.
She also loves the ceiling fan.

We got the jumparoo out of the box & assembled it a few weeks ago. We weren't sure if she could use it yet, but to our delight she fits perfectly and just loves to hang out in there.

Baby Parade @ 4 mos

Sydney at 1 month2 months3 months

4 months
From babyweekly.com:

Your New BabySydney Alexis, the little grabber, is working feverishly at improving her grasp by latching onto anything and everything that she can get her little hands around. Sydney Alexis will want to touch, hold, turn, shake, and put in her mouth everything within her reach. If one object isn't interesting enough, it's likely to be pitched in favor of another.Sydney Alexis may be beginning to display some distinct personality traits - is she quiet or a nonstop babbler? Is she outgoing or shy? She may also start to protest when it's time to put her favorite toys away as she is able to retain the memory of an object even after it's gone.To encourage Sydney Alexis to make choices and practice crawling, try placing a toy just out of Sydney Alexis's reach so she has to move to reach it. She may also start pushing objects out of reach, either because she doesn't like the item, as a game to reach for it again, or so that she can get YOU to pick it up for her.Although some friends and family may advocate feeding Sydney Alexis solids early to encourage her to sleep longer at night, you should feel confident if you decide to wait a little longer and continue nursing exclusively. Studies show that introducing solids before six months of age may cause your baby discomfort because her still-immature digestive system isn't quite ready for solid food. The end result is often less sleep, not more. Your little one will not be harmed by your decision to wait, and you'll both enjoy the final weeks of exclusive nursing.

Visitors & a new hat

2 Sunday afternoons ago, the 28th, Sydney got to meet her Great Grandparents McArthur. I think it was love at first sight for all 3 of them. Her Great Aunt Debbie from Omaha came down for the visit also. We all went out for lunch, and she was a very good girl. She told me she misses them already & wishes they weren't so far away! A good friend of mine from high school, Jenna, came to visit us last weekend. Sydney thought she was tons of fun and they had a blast playing outside together.

We tried on her new white visor, but it was quite a bit too big, even for her round little melon. I had to safety pin it in the back to get it to tighten up enough. We thought this might help keep her face shaded on our walks. We also bought her some of those sunglasses that have the soft strap for around the head, and she's been a good girl about keeping them on, but they start to slide off when she moves her head around.

Still waiting on our hard drive

Well...you can probably guess by the fact that this post doesn't have any pictures that our home computer is still down. We're hoping that the new hard drive is delivered today so we can get up & running over the weekend. I've had to stop taking pictures of Sydney for the past few days because both our cards are full. So guess what that means.....yep, TONS of pictures coming your way soon!

Here's a quick update:

Sydney's fever broke sometime Saturday night, because she was feelin' fine on Sunday. Later on Sunday I noticed tiny little red bumps on her arms, legs, & tummy. They didn't seem to be bothering her, but they still worried me. Online I found the following explanation, which describes exactly what she had, roseola: http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/baby/babyills/babyrash/1616.html.
We were around her boyfriend, Jackson, on Friday before I knew she was fevered and I was worried that she might have given him whatever virus she had. But we got lucky & he never showed any signs, eventhough they say its highly contagious. Whew! Atleast she's immune from getting it again.

Jeff spent an extra day in New Orleans because they missed their flight back during the final game, so he came home Wednesday night. For old guys with beer bellys, they sure can play! Jeff didn't get to play middle, like he did in college, but he was feeling comfortable as an outside hitter by the 3rd day when he figured out his timing. He's got tons of exciting news to post about the trip, so I won't steal his thunder.
